This year's race is going to be in person on our beautiful Wichita State Campus! We are exited to bring you all back and have a special time with our community.

Are you going to miss running on the Wichita State University campus? You are welcome to run the 5k on our wide and picturesque college grounds. We will be posting information about special days to run on campus.

Prairie Fire Marathon

The Prairie Fire Marathon is a USATF Certified Race and a Boston Marathon Qualifier (Certification #KS13034TR). It is the RRCA State of Kansas Championship Marathon. The start/finish line is at 455 S. Wichita St., Wichita, KS 67202. The Prairie Fire Marathon is electronically bib timed. We will be using the BIBTAG chip timing system for both the start and finish of the race. Your race number is also your "chip" for timing. The Prairie Fire Marathon promises a fast and exciting course taking runners through the heart of Wichita. While on the course, runners are able to view Wichita’s exciting entertainment district as well as the beauty of some of the nicest residential areas the city has to offer.

2021 Application

Planning for the 43rd running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is underway with the goal of returning to the streets of Chicago on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Event organizers are working closely with the City of Chicago, including the Chicago Department of Public Health, to safely produce a race weekend experience for event attendees and the Chicago community. Preparations for the October 2021 race will align with Chicago’s re-opening framework, including strict adherence to local and state coronavirus guidelines.


2021 Guaranteed and Non-Guaranteed Application Window

The 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon guaranteed and non-guaranteed entry application window closed at 2 p.m. (Central Time) on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Individuals who are interested in participating in the 2021 Chicago Marathon can secure an entry through one of the limited guaranteed entry opportunities still available. In order to gain access to an available guaranteed entry, applicants must agree to the terms of the entry or qualify for the entry.

The 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon American Development Program reached capacity on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. The application is now closed.


Non-guaranteed entry drawing

Non-guaranteed entry applicants for the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be notified of their selection on Thursday, March 25. Applicants will be selected from the full pool of non-guaranteed entry applications. Prior to the drawing, the event will remove all duplicate applications.

Applicants will be notified via email of their entry status on Thursday, March 25. If an applicant receives an entry through the drawing, the entry fee is automatically processed.

Individuals who applied for, but do not receive an entry through the drawing, may still register by opting to run for select official charities or tour groups.

  • U.S. residents (those who live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or other U.S. territories): $205 (USD)*
  • Non-U.S. residents: $230 (USD)

Applicants must provide credit card information as a part of the application process. The entry fee is processed automatically when an application is approved or selected through the drawing.

When completing the application please use a credit card that has an expiration date of April 2021 or later.

* A processing fee is applied to all entry fees.

Event requirements

  • Participants must be 16 years or older on race day.
  • Participants 16-17 years of age must have permission from their parent or legal guardian permitting them to participate in the race. This permission is given during the application process.
  • The Bank of America Chicago Marathon requires that participants be able to complete the 26.2-mile distance in six hours and 30 minutes (6:30:59). The marathon course will reopen for public use on a rolling schedule based on this time limit.
  • The sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited.
  • All registration fees and ancillary purchases are nonrefundable.
  • All participants are required to pick up their own participant packet (bib number and timing device) at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo during the scheduled hours of operation. Additional information about the 2021 Abbott Health & Fitness Expo will be available in the coming months.
  • All participants are required to show a government-issued photo ID upon picking up their own participant packet.
  • All participants acknowledge the inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists and is beyond the control of Event Organizers. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
  • All participants must be familiar with and abide by the event rules.

The Hornet Hustle 5K, 2-Mile & 1 Mile Fun Run

The Hornet Hustle was founded in 2009 by the Abilene Elementary PTO to replace traditional sales fundraisers. It’s a fun event for the students while also encouraging physical activity and competition. Hornet Hustle is completely organized by volunteers and 100% of the proceeds go back to the school.  This is a  competitive race with top finisher awards for children 10 and under, ages 11-18, and 19 and older. There is a male and female category for each age division.  This year we will be adding a senior awards division for runners who are over 60 years old. Because our race is on a cross country course, we’re offering a special discount for cross country participants to run without receiving an event shirt. The Hawk 100 / 50 / 26.2 Race, presented by the Lawrence Trail Hawks, is located at: Clinton State Park Army Corp of Engineer - Shelter 1 - Overlook Park 798 N 1402 Rd, Lawrence, KS 66049

Hawk Hundred The Hawk Hundred, sponsored by the Lawrence Trail Hawks, has the option of a 100-mile, 50-mile and Marathon trail race. The course covers a 25 mile loop through the technical rolling trails at Clinton State Park, Lawrence, KS. The Marathon runners will run 1.2 miles on the Nature Center Trail before they start the 25 mile loop.

The 100 MILE race starts at 6:00AM The 50 MILE race starts at 7:00AM. The MARATHON starts at 8:00AM

The pre-race briefing and Packet pickup -TBD based on COVID-19 restrictions. We will communicate the specifics 30 days prior to the race based on the County guidlines. DROP BAGS need to be dropped off Race morning 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Race for Freedom is a 5K run/walk on September 8th, 2018 organized by ICT S.O.S. to benefit a local organization in the fight against human trafficking. This year’s race will benefit the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This unit is a partnership of the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff Department and investigates online abuse and exploitation of children in our state.

5K: 15 - 25 years of age; 26 - 39 years of age; 40 - 54 years of age; 55+ years of age. The 5K race includes 12 obstacles of varying level of difficulty, including several water obstacles. Multiple heats starting at 9:00 a.m.

10K Gravel Road Cycling Race: 15+ years of age. Includes a combination of paved street and gravel roads. Course begins and ends at SCKMC. Start time is 10:15 a.m.

17K Gravel Road Cycling Race: 15+ years of age. Includes a combination of paved street and gravel roads. Course begins and ends at SCKMC. Start time is 10:45 a.m.

5K Run Fees: $25 ($30 after 7/31) + $2.50 timing fee; Kids Run Fees $10 ($15 after 7/31); Cycling Race Fees $25 ($30 after 7/31) + $2.50 timing fee; Run/Cycling Combo $45 ($55 after 7/31) + $5.00 timing fee.

The funds raised will benefit South Central Kansas Medical Center, and all money raised will be used as the foundation for growth and development of the services they provide, such as equipment purchases, physician recruitment, and program enhancement.

United Way of McPherson County Triathlon

This is the 17th year for the United Way of McPherson County Triathlon, held at McPherson Water Park and Lakeside Park in McPherson, Kansas.  Nicknamed by one racer as "The Fastest Short Course in Kansas," the United Way Triathlon starts with a 200-meter swim, followed by a 7-mile bike and finishing with a 2-mile run.   There is also a Junior Triathlon for youth with a 100-meter swim, 1 mile bike, and .75-mile run.

Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27th, 2024.
