A 200 kilometer (125 mile) self-supported, non-stop race through the High Plains and Gypsum Hills of South Central Kansas.
The Open Range 200k is held in Pratt, Kansas. The course will take riders through the historic city of Medicine Lodge and the sleepy town of Sun City before finishing back in Pratt. The Open Range 100k will follow much of the same route for the beginning and end as the 200k except it will bypass Medicine Lodge and head to Sun City and return back to Pratt. Majority of the race will be on sand, dirt, and gravel roads. Pratt is conveniently located just west of Wichita on US 54 HWY.
WHY OPEN RANGE GRAVEL RACE:
Open Range Gravel Race is the only 200 km race through the High Plains and Gypsum Hills of South Central Kansas. The OR200k course is also one of the most diverse in the nation. The Kansas Gypsum Hills were named by Bicycling Magazine the most beautiful ride in the state. There will be sand, red dirt, gravel, brick, asphalt, flat roads, and hills. Riders will experience around 4000′ of climbing on the 200k route.
The OR200k is perfectly situated between the Land Run 100 and the Dirty Kanza 200. For those looking for a shorter course with a smaller sampling of the Gypsum Hills, there will also be a non-competitive 100 km course. Professional electronic race timing provided.
