Discounts/Benefits

Military Discount
If you are currently active duty Military or a Veteran, we'd like to thank you by extending a 10% discount for your entry fee. Please message us at Outlaw 100 for the coupon code.

Child Discount (in person only)
Outlaw events are meant to be amongst family and friends. As such, any parent entry will entitle one child (15 yo and under) to a free entry of the same or lesser distance. We understand that registering all the kids gets expensive, so here is a chance for the kids to get a great medal and T-shirt and be active and healthy as a family. Please message us at Outlaw 100 for the coupon code.

Volunteer Benefits
Along with a T-shirt and the usual fun of volunteering, we would like to do more. It takes a community to put on quality races, but volunteers must also be appreciated. The program will be as follows: Shifts are in 4-8 hour increments, and you must sign up. If you volunteer for one shift at any of our races, you will get 25% off registration for our future races. Distance is not a factor. So, four shifts will be a free race.

Dropdowns/DNFs?DQs

Runners starting a race but not finishing the intended distance will be listed as a DNF at the bottom of the results for their registered distance. Runners may not be “dropped down” to a shorter distance once they start a race, and will not appear as finishers of the shorter distance. This ensures a fair event where runners know their competition and cannot be lowered in place by a runner dropping down in distance. Runners may switch distances before the start of their race and will be eligible as a finisher in that event

DNF: Runners starting a race but not finishing the intended distance, in the intended order as marked, and under the official cutoffs, will be listed as a DNF at the bottom of the results for their registered distance.

DQ: Runners must complete the course in its intended order, as marked by race officials. Any deviation from or cutting of the course may result in a timing penalty or even disqualification. Additionally, runners who are found to be excessively rude to race personnel, volunteers, or others may also be considered for disqualification. We believe in fostering a respectful and supportive race environment, and these rules are in place to uphold that.

Dropdowns: Runners may not be “dropped down” to a shorter distance once they have started a race and will not appear as finishers of the shorter distance. Runners may switch distances before the start of their race and will be eligible as a finisher in the updated race distance.

Directions/Travel/Lodging

Please use the location Thunderbird Dam road in Google or Apple maps. If you put use Thunderbird State Park it will take you to the north (wrong) side of the lake.

Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City is the closest airport. Norman offers a variety of hotel options.

Deferal / Transfer Credit (to a different race)

If you can no longer run the event you registered for, we offer the below-sliding scale prior to the originally schedule race date for receiving credit to a different Outlaw event. We do not offer refunds, deferrals, or transfers - only future race credit. The credit will only be useable by the original registered participant and only for Outlaw events. Unless otherwise stated, credits will be valid for two years from the original event date. Credit will be the amount paid minus taxes and fees. Transfers are a one-time opportunity. You cannot re-transfer a previously transferred race. Once credits have been issued, they are gone. This includes any credits used from volunteering, race credits, previous credits, or credits transferred. The submission date will be used to calculate the credit amount.

Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza 100 Mile, 100K, 50 Mile, 50K, Marathon, and Half Marathon

Start date: October 26, 2024
End date: October 27, 2024
Time: 6:00 am
Location: Celebration Hall, Ottawa, KS
Running

Start & Time Limit

100 Mile and 100K 6 AM start; 30-hour time limit. 50 Mile 7 AM start; 29-hour time limit. 50K, Marathon and 1/2 Marathon 8 AM start; 28-hour time limit. Turnaround (halfway point) cutoffs of 14 hours for the 100 Mile entrants, 13 hours for the 50 Mile entrants, and 12 hours for the 50K entrants, along with aid station cutoffs on the inbound leg of both races.

Marathon and half-marathon runners, you must take the shuttle from the start/finish at Celebration Hall to Kingman Road. The trail service that issues the permits for the races was concerned about parking issues in previous years. Violators will be ticketed, and the runner could be disqualified. Again, this affects the permits of these races. The shuttle will begin boarding at 7 a.m. and will run until everyone is transported. As such, these races will be started as a rolling event.

Course Description & Aid Stations

The Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza is run on the Prairie Spirit Trail and is a beautiful "rails-to-trails" course that runs through numerous quaint little towns.
The 100 Mile, 50 Mile and 50K course start at Celebration Hall in Ottawa with a short northbound out-and-back (100mile: approx 2mi, 50mile: approx. 4mi, 50K: approx. 1mi), then travel south to their turnaround (100mile: Iola, 50mile: Garnett, 50K: Richmond) and back north to the finish in Ottawa.
The 100K, Marathon, and Half Marathon start on the trail in Ottawa and will head south to their turnaround (100K: Welda, Mar: Richmond, 1/2Mar: Princeton) and back north to the finish in Ottawa.

The course is primarily on a crushed limestone trail, with asphalt paths as you travel through each small town. Manned and unmanned aid stations will be approximately every 5 miles (with no greater distance than approximately 6 miles) and the course is easily accessible to crew. It's a great event for first timers, as it's a flat and relatively easy course. It's also the perfect course for experienced runners wanting to set a PR. The atmosphere will be family friendly with plenty of places for your crew to hang out and relax while cheering you on. Pacers WILL BE allowed for the last half (approx.) of the event.

Aid Stations: Manned aid stations are fully-stocked with water, electrolyte drink & snack-type foods, unmanned aid stations with water only.

90-days out (or more): 100% credit

30-89 days out: 75% credit

Less than 30 days: No credit

Welcome to the Prairie Fire Race Series!

The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission, a 501(c)6 business non-profit, has operated the annual marathon since 2010 when it was rebranded from the Wichita Marathon to the Prairie Fire Marathon which is held on the second Sunday of October. The Prairie Fire Spring Half Marathon was added in 2013 and is held on the first Sunday of May.

The Prairie Fire Marathon is a USATF Certified Race (KS19019TJD) and a Boston Marathon Qualifier with a fast double loop course design taking runners through the heart of Wichita. Runners begin in the Old Town district, run along the Douglas Design District, and pass through the lively College Hill area. After turning around, runners head through Downtown Wichita before taking in the views along the Arkansas River and the historic Riverside Park area. This course is shared with the Prairie Fire Half Marathon.
