About This Event
Be a part of something Big. For the third year, Fleet Feet and Brooks will come together on June 5th to host The Big Run. The annual nationwide 5K brings thousands of runners together on Global Running Day to do what we love most—run.Last year, 16,000 runners logged 25,000 miles at more than 100 events in more than 20 states. Get your game face on and challenge family and friends as you run in the 45th annual Fidelity Bank River Run.

All registrants receive a commemorative t-shirt and medallion.  

The River Run race series includes four race events:  Marriott International 10K Race, WaterWalk Presents the Katie Partridge Memorial 5K Run/Wheelchair Race, AccuWeather 2-Mile Family Walk/Jog and the Lane Enterprises Tot Trot, exclusively for kids ages 2-7.

For the 2021 event, we will have multiple start times for each event and these waves of start times will be made up of a maximum of 50 people per wave to allow for proper social distancing. When registering, you will select your start time from the list of waves available.

Join us this Memorial Day for a family-friendly event that supports Family Promise of Lawrence, a nonprofit serving local families experiencing homelessness. This is a fast, certified course. First-time racers, joggers, walkers, strollers and dogs on leash are welcome. Medals will be awarded to age group finishers as well as overall and master's winners. Register by May 1 for $25/person; $30/person after May 1. Teams of four or more receive $5 discount/person. Music, free bounce houses and other children's activities on-site.

TRAIL RUN EVENTS

10K RUN - The Original "Suicide Hill Trail Run", a 10K loop running west of town.  The run includes two creek crossings with rolling native hills with cowboys and cattle.

5K RUN - It includes the famed "Suicide Hill", an out and back 5K.  The run includes an up and over route of Suicide Hill.

PONY EXPRESS RELAY - As far as we know, it is the only one of its kind in Trail Runs. It will cover the 10K course. Three runners must compete as a team. Each runner will cover approximately one third of the course. Batons will be furnished. Get yourself a three person team and compete!

Packet pick-up will be Friday May 4, 2017 from 4-6 PM at: Frontier Conference Center,  350 Biddle Blvd,  Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027

The course consists of a 200yd indoor swim, a 12.6 mile bike route, and a 5k run.

-The swim will be an individual staggered start beginning in Lane 1 and swimming a serpentine route ending in Lane 8.

-The bike course is a two loop route that takes you through the hills and historic sites across Fort Leavenworth.

-Runners then head out on a 5k run that continues along another area of the fort's historical buildings.

Individual and Relay Team categories.

Minimum age is 13.

Awards for overall male and female winners, along with the top three in each age group and the top male, female, and mixed relay team participants.

When you are registering as a Relay Team, you can register your entire team at once, or you can have each person register individually.  If your team members are registering individually, make sure the first team member that registers tells their teammates what he or she set as the team name. They will need this to complete the registration process!

Please be aware that all participants accessing Fort Leavenworth must possess an approved access credential (Military ID, CAC, etc).  Individuals who don't must go through the Visitor Control Center (VCC) beforehand in order to get a temporary access pass.  Fort Leavenworth VCC does not open until 8:00AM on Saturday, so anyone needing to obtain an access pass will need to go by earlier in the week to get a pass for Saturday.  Visitors can receive a pass 7 days prior to the event date.
