Participants will be in competing in 3 age groups: 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds & 12-14 year olds. Age is determined by the participants age on the day of the race. Kids ages 6 - 14 years old will swim in the Natatorium, bike, and run on a closed course, in this up and coming popular sport. Each participant will receive a participation medal and event t-shirt.

6 - 8 year olds: 50 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.25 mile run
9 - 11 year olds: 100 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.50 mile run
12 - 14 year olds: 200 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 1 mile run

Come join us for the 38th annual Derby Firecracker Race on the 4th of July!   Pick between a certified 4 mile course or a fast certified 1 mile course.  Enjoy a looped course that begins and end in Derby's High Park.   A cash reward to our fastest male and female runners in each race of $50.00 will be awarded as well as age group awards! 

What's New?

Shirts this year will be tri-blend shirts!  Finisher medals will be given to all runners!  If you or somebody you know would like to volunteer, let the race director know. The races are chip-timed by the experienced crew of Timer Guys!

4 Mile Race

The Four Mile Race will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. It is open to all ages and abilities, including runners and walkers. Veterans will be recognized before the start of the 4 Mile Race.

1 Mile Race

The One Mile Race will follow the Four Mile Race at approximately 8:30 a.m. It is open to all ages and abilities, including runners and walkers.

Aid Station Refreshments

An aid station will be at the 2-mile mark of the 4-mile race. Post race refreshments for both races will include bottled water, soda, fresh fruit including watermelon and homemade cookies from the kitchens of the expert bakers in our running club.

Heat Warning

High heat and humidity can be dangerous to runners. Therefore, make sure you drink plenty of fluids the morning of the race and at the aid stations. If you feel overheated or feel dizzy, seek aid.

Safety

Races are limited to registered participants only. No rollerblades, bicycles, skateboards, dogs are allowed. Noncompliance will result in disqualification. Course Marshalls will control traffic, but runners should use extreme caution. Slower participants and strollers are encouraged to begin toward the rear to avoid congestion and collision.

Tulsa Triathlon provides a distance challenge for all athletes. Whether you are 5 or 95, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery at Birch Lake near Barnsdall, Oklahoma as you experience the multi-sport lifestyle like no other event.

Events include Sprint Triathlon (500 meter open water swim, 12 mile road bike, 5K road run), International/Olympic Triathlon (1500 meter open water swim, 40K road bike, 10K road run), 70.3/Half (1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile road bike, 13.1 mile road run). There are two Aquabike distances (1500M/40K and 1.2 mile/56 mile) along with a kids triathlon for ages 5 to 12.

Rainbows GLOW Run|Walk

CGSC Triathlon

The course consists of a 200yd indoor swim, a 12.6 mile bike route, and a 5k
run.

-The swim will be an individual staggered start beginning in Lane 1 and
swimming a serpentine route ending in Lane 8.

-The bike course is an "out and back" route that takes you on to the high
ground overlooking the historic fort, and follows the banks of the mighty
Missouri River passing dozens of historic homes and buildings. The return
route takes the rider past the site of the old historic US Disciplinary
Barracks and then proceeds to follow a mile long uphill climb before making
its returning descent back to the transition area.

-Runners then head out on a 5k run that continues along another area of the
fort's historical buildings.

Individual and Relay Team categories. Minimum age is 13.
Awards for overall male and female winners, along with the top three in each
age group and the top male, female, and mixed relay team participants.

Munson Mayhem 5K & Duathlon

Celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Munson Mayhem 5K and Duathlon is April 22, 8 a.m., start and finish at Munson Army Health Center (MAHC). Choose 5K run or duathlon (5K run, 9 mile bike ride, 2 mile run)

The event starts at Munson Army Health Center (MAHC) and starts with a 5K road circuit around the scenic north end Fort Leavenworth. This 5K course takes you up through the wooded hills of the installation and loops back south to finish back at MAHC. The biking course then takes cyclists east through some historic sections of Fort Leavenworth and turning south, with a turnaround point near Sherman Gate. Cyclists will then head back north past the historic US Disciplinary Barracks and back up through the wooded hills from the 5K course. Riders will come back south and turn by the National Cemetery before returning to MAHC. The final leg of the race is a 2 mile run around the beautiful Trails West Golf Course. Runners will complete one full lap, and will end back at MAHC.

CRMC Foundation Spring Chicken 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run

During  spring, the foundation hosts a 5K run.  This 5K run/ walk is a fundraiser for the foundation to raise monies for equipment throughout the hospital. This past year the money raised went to the Women’s health Department.

Mud Run @ the Rock

The 2nd Annual Mud Run @ the Rock is coming!  This race is a 2 mile run, packed with 20 obstacles where you will climb, crawl, get wet and muddy, and have a blast!  Whether you want to be the fastest runner of the day, or run with some friends as a team, or enjoy some "family time" making memories as you particpate in our family heat, this run is for you.

Every dollar that we make will be used to send our 6-12 graders to summer camp at CIY MIX or CIY MOVE.

START & TIME LIMIT:

Both races start at 11 am from the Outlet Channel Shelter. 5 hour cutoff for either event. Short pre-race briefing at 10:45 a.m.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Elk River Hiking Trail. Accurately measured forest trail winding through unique limestone bluffs, rock formations & picturesque vistas. Mostly single-track, out & back, very rocky, no long hills. Home of the legendary FlatRock 50/25K and the infamous FlatRock 101K.

AID STATIONS:

3 Aid Stations in the 25K and 1 (turnaround) in the 12K. Aid stations are approximately 3.5-4 miles apart, are all unmanned, with only water available. No cups will be available, so you MUST carry a handheld bottle with you on the course. If you need fuel (calories) of any type, YOU are responsible to pack it with you, as there will be none available on the course.

CHECK-IN (Staging Area):

Race headquarters will be located in the Outlet Channel Group Shelter (north side of the Elk City Lake dam). Race bib (shirt) pick-up will be from 9:30:10:30 AM on Saturday morning January 7, 2017. Map to the staging area can be found by clicking the link below:

PRE & POST-RACE:

An assortment of warm beverages (coffee, hot chocolate, tea, cider, etc.) will be available for runners prior to our start. A hearty chicken noodle soup and some type of vegan bean soup, along with the previously mentioned hot beverages will be available for all runners after their respective finish.

There are several different ways to get to the Outlet Channel Shelterhouse (Staging Area) depending upon which direction you are coming from. If you have never been to FlatRock before we highly recommend allowing a little extra drive time, especially if you plan on driving in the morning of the race.

TRIPLE CROWN:

The FlatRock Tripple Crown will once again be held for those runners looking for some real punishment on this legendary course! For those willing and able to finish all three races (WinterRock 25K, Flatrock 50K and the Flatrock 101K) you will receive a special award at the end of your 176K journey that will definitely be worth all of the punishment.

PLEASE NOTE: If there is any kind of substantial freezing/frozen moisture on the trail, we will postpone this event until the following week on Saturday, January 14th, AND will continue doing so weekly thereafter until we can run it WITHOUT the aforementioned additional risk involved.
